No, you don't need that harness. What happens when you switch the source to radio?

it just cycles through, it cant find a station. i just discovered am works but no fm. i also get a message that says rd-tmc tunerconnection could not be established or is faulty when i turn on the car, thats why i was wondering if i needed that harness since i know i dont have the tmc tuner.

When you switch to radio, hold the "up" arrow until you get a beep. The radio should stop cycling to find stations and you can manually dial them in with the right hand rotarty knob to program them. As for the TMC error, you need to set the value to "0" with a VAG-COM if you aren't running one. I can send you some more info if you want to contact me through email. This forum doesn't get much traffic anymore.
