For some reason the rear view mirror and instrument panel display are not in sync when it comes to showing the direction f travel. Some times the rear view mirror shows N and the instrument panel shows S or SE. They are not all the time in sync. Sometime it is and sometimes its not. I changed the magnetic zones to 11 and re-calibrated the compass by going in circles. Still not in sync.

    Any suggestions? I have a 2005 S4 B6 with added on RNS-E.

The rear view mirror compass and the RNS-E compass are completely separate and not linked in any way - even when OE fitted.

The RNS-E compass comes from the GPS signals, but the mirror compass comes from a magnetic sensor built-in to the mirror. Since you've tried re-calibrating the mirror compass without success, it sounds to me like you have a faulty mirror.
