Add Bluetooth to the Lamborghini NAV unit

I have seen some posts on working with the NAV units of the Lamborghini's but nothing really recent or specific to the factory Lamborghini unit and adding options to it.

I'm looking to add the bluetooth capability to the stock Lamborghini Gallardo NAV unit, it is an MY06 Spyder with the original 06 Map DVD P/N 400 919 859 F. I would also like to add the current version of Maps version "J".

The MY07 Lamborghini's had the option to add bluetooth and iPod but not the MY06. Not interested in the iPod update.

    Anyone have experience with this?

    Thank you

To see what software you are using, press CAR and select version. Bluetooth is possible with sw 0110 and newer (in North America), sw 0150 get rid of the disclaimer. You can update the software and still use you rold map DVD. I would need to confirm but BT should be possible if you run at least sw 0110.

    Thank you for the reply.

I just checked and I do have sw 0110. I'm in Canada. Getting rid of the disclaimer would also be very nice.

So what is needed to update this system?

Either get a newer Lambo DVD, borrow a newer Audi DVD or google for the 0200 US software to burn on a CD and update your RNS-E.

My appologies but I'm a little lost here, this is what I understand please correct me if I am wrong.

If I upgrade the DVD then it will include sw 0200, with this version the BT function can be added and the disclaimer message can be bypassed, corrrect?

    1) Is there information on which BT hardware parts are required, according to the Lambo dealer said the BT is not sold separately.

    2) In order to bypass the disclaimer message I'm assuming that it has to be programed to do so.

Forgive me for the newbie stuff, I did spend some time searching and looking through forums but I found most that did not apply to my case as it is not an Audi retrofit and I'm not trying to turn a non-Nav unit into a Nav unit. I have also heard that using a Audi DVD could make the unit unusable and would require reprogramming so I'm alittle nervous on the Audi DVD route.

I did see that NSX-JR did a Gallardo SE in 2006, my setup would be the same as the SE, It has the same NAV unit and backup camera along with the same sw 0110 version.

NSX is probably the best bet to get everythng you need. From what I understood, the retrofit steps are exactly the same as in an Audi A3 8P, even using the same parts. For a Lambo a special VAG-COM adapter is required if you don't want the dealer to recode the car.

To get rid of the disclaimer, no recoding is required, just get a DVD with sw 0150 or newer. The Audi DVD will work but only show Audi dealers, not Lambo dealers. I have never heard of a Lambo unit that stopped working after using an Audi DVD to update the software or used as map.

I have a vag-com cable for my Touareg. does this adapter that you mention make it so that I can use that cable on the gallardo?

If it's a HEX CAN cable it will work but you need a special adapter because the Gallardo is not using the normal OBD connector that the VAG-COM cable comes with. I think NSX Jr is building those adapters on request.

    Dang, its a KEY-USB.

I'm hoping I can get some assistance from the guys that have installed the bluetooth in the Gallardo's already.

    I have purchased the following;

    Tel interface box - part# 8P0862335S H34
    Bluetooth antenna - part# 8P0 035 503E
    Audi Microphone - part# 8L1 862 373A
    TEL interface cable

My RNS-E is at SW 0150
I have a Canadian car(Probably same as US RNS-E unit)
I have the Lamborghini conversion cable for the VAG-COM
    I have a VAG-COM HEX-USB+CAN Interface coming

I think I have all the parts now just need some instructions on doing the programming.

I have the following instructions but there is no reference for Lamborghini and I'm not sure about the setting to use because of this, here is what I have...

    Coding TEL interface

You will need VAG tool to do that, and be sure that your VAG is at least version 5.10 with latest firmware (loaded automatically to cable). I used HEX-USB-CAN for my testing:

This cable is not cheap so you can ask someone to help you or ask seller if he can code it for your car before shipment.
    Now it's time for NUM83R2

You need to access #77 Telephone to code your box.
this is what VAG is showing when connecting to TEL interface. US units have 7 digit soft coding string while EU units have 5 digits. For now I'm using 0010777 for my US unit.

Below you have coding values for your interface:

    # 77 (Phone)

    Coding your Navigation unit

Once your TEL interface is coded, you will need to recode your RNS-E to let them connect togeher. Some RNS-E units will work right away some not. This is sample VAG screen from B7 install:

3rd digit from the end will define your TEL interface manufacturer. And here we got a problem.....US unit is made by TEMIC which supose to be #2...but for some reason most of US units don't allow this numberin the string...I selected #6 for now because it's working fine but to get all functionality you will need to check if your phone is compatible with RNS-E .

Below you have coding values for RNS-E:

    STG 56 (Navigation System) -> Coding -> Function 07

    0?xxxxx: Model
    1 - Audi A2
    2 - Audi A3 (8P)

1xxxx for the phone interface and 0xxx6xx for the US RNS-E is correct, just make sure you restart the RSN-E after changing the coding.

AFAIK the only difference in coding with a Lamborghini is the first digit of the RNS-E coding (which is 1 for a Lamborghini), so just follow the information at the Ross-Tech wiki and the OpenOBD website shown for Audi's with that digit changed.
