What is the difference between the 2004 A8 and the 2007 A8?
I'm very tempted to say that the 2007 one is 3 years newer than the 2004 car
The main difference is the newer car gets the big front grille, whether you like it or not, it makes the car look much more up-to-date. The centre of the steering wheel is probably different, and there are more alloy bits in the newer ones, on the edge of the parking switch for example, but nothing major.
Apart from that, I don't think there is much difference, generally, the newer cars get more options as standard, but a highly specified older car can have more than a thinly specified new one.
For me an important difference is 4,2 engine. I needed car that will run on LPG and 4,2 BFM with miltipoint injection is perfect for that. Newer ones (from 2006) are FSI and LPG systems for that are more expensive. I also couldn't find any user with that engine converted to gas.
4.0TDI was replaced with 4,2TDI-more economical, quieter and without the camchain problems.
Most of other changes are just face lift.
