Default double din concert II+ to rns-e B7 A4

I've just ordered an rns-e unit to retro-fit. My current head unit (double din concert II+ (facelift with chrome dials) B7 A4 with BOSE) has quadlock connections etc.

Do I need anything in the way of adaptors or is it just straight plug and play. I've been told yes by some and no by others.

Can anyone who has done this confirm or not ?

Cheers

Ok... so a bit of searching around and all I'll need to do is swap the k-line and bose wires over.

So next question is how do I do that. The last connector I tried this one ended in disaster. Is there a tool I can get from say maplins or somewhere that I can use. Or is their a particular technique ?

A small screwdriver is all you need, the pins come out of the quadlock connector quiet easily.

No adaptors required but you'll still obviously require the GPS antenna.

In addition to switching around a couple of wires (Bose pin, K-line), you'll also need to code the RNS-E unit and instrument cluster using VCDS (VAG-COM) or the dealer's VAS5051.

Cool, yeah have the full blown ross-tech hex-can interface. The unit is coming with a 2009 Map DVD and GPS antenna.

Now; my motor is a facelift 2007 MY B7..... I've read about a diversity arial problem, but this seems to be for the A3. Does it affect my year A4 ? The unit I'm getting is a 2008 build Q revision.

Do you press the screw driver down the side of the wire from the wire side of the quad lock or from the socket side ?

If affects ALL cars that came from the factory with a II+ series radio (which have a Quadlock connector), so yes your car IS affected by the antenna diversity problem.

The RNS-E uses the "old style" diversity system which the Series II radios used, not the "new style" phase diversity system that the Series II+ radios use.

You slide the plastic locking bar out of the inner connector and then press down on the visible part of the pin on the side of the connector - that's it's locking section - while GENTLY pulling on the wire.
