Default Retro-Fit Garage door opener (Homelink*)

Hi there,

Has anyone every retro-fitted the Garage door opener (Homelink*) to an Audi A4 Cabriolet?

Any idea of the price of the parts/ difficulty in fitting?

Kind regards,

A

Before you consider it check the home link site for your garage door software version as often the case the Audi system will not work without some changes to the home link garage door setup.A8 is the exception but a4/rs4 can be a pain and often a universal remote solves the problem.A4 home link has no kwire(a4) so there is no diagnostic coms to aid in fault diagnosis. As for retro fitting it wouldn't be to difficult but not worth the effort if the home link unit isn't compatible with the garage door unit.

If it uses the same parts as the A3, then the module alone is around £500 and £80 for the sun visor with the switches, which killed the retrofit for me. Why not use an audi dash button to control the remote that came with your garage door opener. It will be far cheaper to do it this way.

one thing, which you might find it useful.

once you have got your homelink device installed in you car - you can come across some difficulties with paring your audi homelink and your garage device. if your garage device uses variable code then it is quite possible your audi homelink will be "loosing" the code and door won't open. so it might happen you would need additional device (around 60 euro) supplied by homelink to replace your original garage opener.

Send me a PM, as i can sort you out with a cheaper solution with 868 transmitters, better range, cheaper, and more secure.
